"This year’s Decorated Spaces have a distinct sense of glamour and drama. The designers have created two very different rooms that are packed with design ideas and bespoke details. Think hot pink walls and a sofa modelled on that from a Hockney painting, in the case of Natalia Miyar’s sitting room scheme, and a leopard print carpet combined with grand pedimented doorways for Studio Duggan’s bedroom."

Natalia Miyar Atelier
Natalia Miyar has designed a vibrantly coloured sitting room in a palette derived by nature and anchored by statement furniture and bold contemporary art. The colours of the pink robin inspired the fuchsia grasscloth wallpaper with dark grey woodwork. The exedra entrance is defined by contemporary columns and the centrepiece of the sitting area is a sofa inspired by a David Hockney painting. The reclaimed timber floor is a textural contrast to the silky, colourful graphic pattern of the rug.
We asked Natalia to describe her style:
"Natalia Miyar - founder of Natalia Miyar Atelier - is an intuitive creator with a love of beauty, approaching her design projects with an understanding of balance and proportion and infusing them with handmade, tactile objects to create serene yet lively, storied spaces. Projects vary greatly in terms of style but are bound together by a confident understanding of pattern and texture in a luscious interplay of luxury and comfort. Born in Mexico to Cuban-American parents then relocating to Miami at a young age, Natalia's cultural identity is laden with inspirations that fuel a love of texture, colour and the contrasts of the visual world. Natalia’s designs celebrate glamorous detailing, coupled with a relaxed interpretation of classical design to create homes of understated elegance. Striking prints are layered on tactile fabrics in earthy palettes to produce textured, calming organic interiors with playful keynotes."

Studio Duggan will create a bedroom space that is both serene and glamorous in equal measure. The design scheme is a harmonious mix of styles and eras, carefully curated to create a surprisingly contemporary look - with an unexpected element of whimsy. The bedroom will be a personal experience for visitors; soft music, scent, a collection of well-thumbed books and a few select personal effects to tell the fictional story of its inhabitants.
We asked Studio Duggan to describe their style:
"Considered Eclecticism -
With an emphasis on form, colour, texture, scale and an expertly curated mix of old and new, Studio Duggan projects are approached holistically and underpinned with a total respect for the client's brief. I wouldn’t say we have any one style, but the common thread of our projects is that there is always a varying degree of eclecticism, a touch of the unexpected and just a little humour - however subtle."
