The HOUSE Fair  is the area of the Festival for consumers seeking unique and inspiring interiors ideas. Not to be missed is the much-anticipated Expert Theatre situated on the Gallery level of the Festival, visitors will have the chance to learn how to create the most beautiful homes from leading professionals and specialists from the world of interior design and expert and practical advice on all aspects of interior design and decoration.

2016 SPEAKERS

In 2016 this included BIID President Susie Rumbold and award-winning designer Sue Timney, garden designer Matthew Wilson, House & Garden Gardening Editor Claire Foster, Dr Tessa Murdoch from the V&A the world’s leading museum of art and design, Farrow and Ball and KLC School of Design.

Joa Studholme

The Farrow and Ball International colour consultant discussed and offered advice on ‘Colour in the Home’ and explaining how, through the simple use of colour, you can achieve striking results both inside and outside your home.

The KLC School of Design

Experts from this institution known the world over for delivering the highest quality design education available today offered both practical and inspirational advice on key design topics. Rachael White explored ‘Being Brave with Colour’ and how you can do this in your home in an achievable way. Diana McKnight’s talked about  ‘Eyes on Design’ and showed visitors how design principles can make a room ‘work’ and how you can create inspiring spaces with a number of practical and straightforward techniques. Finally Julia Begbie looked at a topic that proved very popular – ‘Conceal: Reveal Designing Clever Storage and Creating Dramatic Display.’

The Founder and Creative Director of Tessuto Interiors and President at the BIID shared her expertise on 'Commissioning an Interior Designer'.

Sue Timney

Sue Timney is an iconic British product and interior designer, best known for her eclectic design aesthetic and clientele including Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren and Sam Mendes talked about the difference between ‘Interior Designer or Interior Decorator?’ and what is needed from an interior designer in order to design functional, as well as visually stunning spaces.
