Since 1999, Harriet Anstruther has been providing interior design, decoration, art direction & consultancy services for both residential & commercial projects across the UK & New York.

With a background in fine art & fashion, inspiration, skills & experience are worked into each design project, whilst lavished with the same integrity and discerning eye for exacting detail and finish. Her book REVEAL, published in 2015, combined these multiple elements leading the reader through a curated maze of ideas & room scapes. Harriet guides the design and implementation of a project by helping to develop an individual and eclectic style, creating harmony between inherited pieces, art collections, the architecture of the building and the client’s contemporary needs. Each space expresses the individual characteristics of each client so that no space is bland, formulaic, stereotypical, or dull.

“She knows the importance of the quality of small things; a handle on a door, a switch on a wall. The parts of an interior that we touch every day are the parts we see every day and remind us if we love or hate where we are, if it works or grates. It shows attention to detail, a love of what she does and a wish for the client to continue to love their home long after she has torn up the snagging list and gone home.”

“Harriet’s interiors ooze British style. There is a comfort in the faded grandeur about her rooms but, there is also an edge, a laid-back sex appeal, a sort of lavish abandon.”

Harriet is actively involved in the arts and acts in an advisory capacity for among others Yohji Yamamoto, Anna Fendi & the Brompton Design District. She is a member of the Advisory Development Board for the Design Museum & acted in the same capacity for the V&A for 6 years. She is also a trustee of the Museum of British Folklore with Simon Costin & advises her clients on the selection, curation and commission of art and design pieces for their projects. Harriet is a Professional Member of the BIID & the IIDA, an occasional visiting lecturer & tutor at the RCA & created a Prize for Excellence annually for the MA students of the City & Guilds School of Art.
