Leighton House Museum stands on the edge of Holland Park, at the heart of a group of purpose-built artist’s studio-houses.  They were home to leading Victorian artists, many of them Royal Academicians; not least amongst them Frederic, Lord Leighton, President of the Royal Academy from 1878 to 1896.  Today, The Holland Park Circle is one of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s most distinctive features.

Leighton House Museum is the only purpose built artist’s studio-house in the UK that remains open in its entirety to the public.  Daniel Robbins, Senior Curator of Leighton House Museum will talk about this unique cluster with particular emphasis on Leighton House - what it reveals about the artist and Victorian taste more broadly.
